In 2020, there have been more people than ever introduced to poetry via Zoom, remote communications and virtual meetings — people chose to shine light into isolation. You can’t hold back light. Workshops, gatherings, readings flourish online. Poetry is spirit and can’t be stopped by calamity. We’re grateful that poetry has come down off Mount Olympus, and 2021 will start with many more courageous, eager to write — to discover who they are, and to discover their antecedents. Everybody has a story. We learned that this year and, thankfully, next year we’re going to expand on it.
