Stocks Climb, Lifted by Retailer Results – The Wall Street Journal

U.S. stocks rose Thursday, putting the Dow Jones Industrial Average on course for a fifth consecutive day higher, after strong results from retailers lifted sentiment across the market.

The blue chips added 1.8%, or about 580 points, while the S&P 500 gained 2.2%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite climbed 3%, helped by gains in shares of Apple , Microsoft , Amazon.com and Tesla .
