Sarah Weddington was just 26 years old when she went to the Supreme Court to argue that women should have the right to choose whether to terminate a pregnancy.
A majority of the court’s nine justices ruled in her favour, legalising abortion across the United States.
She spoke to the World Service’s Witness History programme in 2012.
